For both of you

Couples therapy in Gijón

A neutral place to talk about what ends in an argument or in silence at home. Coming to therapy doesn't mean your relationship is broken.

What it's for

A space where everything can be said

The main aim is to create a safe environment where you can both share what you feel without fear of being attacked or judged. My role isn't to decide who is right, but to help you understand what's happening between you and how you're handling it.

You don't need to be in crisis. Many couples come to strengthen what they have, to prepare for a change, or to deal with something small before it grows.

What we work on

What usually lies beneath the arguments

  • Communication

Saying what matters in a way the other person can hear, and arguing without hurting each other.

  • Roles in the relationship

Who does what, and whether that arrangement still works. Even a fair one can create tension.

  • Beliefs and values

What each of you learned at home doesn't always fit the relationship you have today.

  • Recurring conflict

That argument that always comes back, even when the subject changes.

  • Times of change

Children, work, moving home or family: stages that test any agreement.

What sessions are like

Both of you in the same room

Sessions last 60 minutes. The process can run from a few weeks to something longer, depending on each couple's situation.

  1. I listen to you both

Each of you explains how you see the relationship and what you hope to get from coming.

  2. We see the pattern

We look at how and why each of you experiences roles, beliefs and conflict the way you do, and how that affects you both.

  3. You try another way

You practise different ways of talking and deciding, in session and at home.

Questions

What people ask most

What if my partner doesn't want to come?

You can come on your own first. An individual session can also help you think about what's happening for you in the relationship and how to raise the idea.

Will you decide who is right?

No. I'm not here to referee or take sides, but to help you both understand what's going on.

Will therapy save our relationship?

Nobody can guarantee that. Sometimes the process helps a couple stay together in a different way; sometimes it helps them make a difficult decision with more calm and respect. Either way, the decision is yours.

What language are sessions held in?

English or Spanish, whichever you prefer.
